Visit to Brunei Darussalam - Jan 2024
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited Brunei Darussalam from 13 to 15 January 2024 to attend the wedding celebrations of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Prime Minister Lee was accompanied by Mrs Lee, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
Prime Minister Lee and the delegation attended the Royal Wedding Ceremony (Bersanding Ceremony) of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam on 14 January 2024. At the Ceremony, Prime Minister Lee and Mrs Lee conveyed Singapore’s heartiest congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, and to the royal couple.
Prime Minister Lee had an audience with His Majesty on 15 January 2024. During the audience, both Leaders reaffirmed our shared commitment to the special and enduring relationship between Singapore and Brunei. Prime Minister Lee thanked His Majesty for his strong support for the bilateral relationship over the decades, and expressed his confidence that the next generation of leaders will work closely to take the partnership to greater heights.
Prime Minister Lee separately had an audience with the King of Bhutan His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on the sidelines of the royal wedding, where Prime Minister Lee congratulated His Majesty on the successful conclusion of Bhutan’s General Elections on 9 January 2024. Both Leaders also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various domains.
