Visit to India - Oct 2016
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will made a Working Visit to India from 3 to 7 October 2016 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Lee visited New Delhi from 3 to 5 October, and Udaipur from 5 to 6 October. PM Lee last visited India in December 2012 to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit.
In New Delhi, PM Lee met and was hosted to lunch by PM Modi. The Prime Ministers witnessed the exchange of three MOUs on (i) cooperation in the field of industrial property between the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore and the Indian Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, (ii) cooperation on the establishment of a North East Skills Centre in Assam between the Institute of Technical Education Education Services and the Government of Assam and (iii) cooperation in skills development between the Institute of Technical Education Education Services and the Indian National Skill Development Corporation. PM Lee also called on President Pranab Mukherjee, received a call by Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, and attended a reception for Singaporeans based in India.
In Udaipur, PM Lee received a call by Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje, who also hosted PM Lee to a lunch. PM Lee attended the launch of the Centre of Excellence for Tourism Training, which is part of our skills development collaboration under the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership signed in November 2015. In addition, PM Lee also witnessed the signing of (i) a MOU on cooperation on Tourism and Urban Solutions between International Enterprise Singapore and the Government of Rajasthan, and (ii) an Agreement on a Capacity Building Programme in Tourism and Hospitality between Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and the Government of Rajasthan.
