Working visit of PM Lee Hsien Loong to Malaysia, 19 July
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make a working visit to Putrajaya, Malaysia on 19 July 2016. PM Lee and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak will witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High Speed Rail project. The MOU will be signed by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan and Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dato’ Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
The High Speed Rail is a key bilateral project for both countries. The two Governments’ commitment to this project is a reflection of our strong bilateral ties and our continued efforts to deepen relations. When completed, the HSR will boost connectivity, strengthen economic ties and forge closer people-to-people linkages. The signing of the MOU is a significant milestone and testament to our close bilateral cooperation.
Prior to the MOU signing ceremony, PM Lee and the delegation will be hosted to lunch by PM Najib. Both PMs will hold a Joint Press Conference after the MOU signing ceremony.
PM Lee will be accompanied by Minister Khaw, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Communications and Information, Land Transport Authority of Singapore and Attorney-General’s Chambers.
