Visit of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to New Delhi, India (19 to 21 December 2012)
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit New Delhi, India from 19 to 21 December 2012 to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. PM Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee. The Commemorative Summit, themed “ASEAN-India Partnership for Peace and Shared Prosperity”, caps a year-long celebration of the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations.
Following the plenary session of the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit on 20 December 2012, PM Lee and fellow ASEAN Heads of State/Government will attend the joint ASEAN-India Cultural Performance and be hosted to a banquet dinner by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan. There will be a ceremonial flag-down of the ASEAN-India Car Rally on 21 December 2012.
PM Lee will also visit the city of Gurgaon on 20 December 2012. Contiguous to New Delhi, Gurgaon is one of the business and industrial centres of the state of Haryana. PM Lee will also meet local politicians and industrialists.
During PM Lee's absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security & Ministry of Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister.
