SM Goh Chok Tong to Visit the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain (Jan 2010)
Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong will make an official visit to Oman from 30 January to 1 February 2010 at the invitation of Omani Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Sayyid Fahad Bin Mahmoud Al-Said, and thereafter to Bahrain from 2 to 4 February 2010, at the invitation of the Bahraini Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.
Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong will make an official visit to Oman from 30 January to 1 February 2010 at the invitation of Omani Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Sayyid Fahad Bin Mahmoud Al-Said, and thereafter to Bahrain from 2 to 4 February 2010, at the invitation of the Bahraini Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa. Senior Minister Goh is visiting Oman and Bahrain to renew his ties with the leaders of the two countries, update himself on recent developments and strengthen bilateral political and economic links.
In Oman, Senior Minister Goh is scheduled to call on His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, and meet Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Sayyid Fahad Bin Mahmoud Al-Said, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs His Excellency Yousuf Bin Alawi Bin Abdullah and the Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council His Excellency Ahmed Bin Abdulnabi Macki. Senior Minister Goh will also be the Guest-of-Honour at the launch of "The Jewel of Muscat". This is a reconstructed replica of a 9th century Arab dhow that will sail from Oman to Singapore, where it will be permanently displayed as a personal gift from the Sultan of Oman to Singapore.
In Bahrain, Senior Minister Goh is scheduled to call on His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa. Senior Minister Goh is also scheduled to meet Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Senior Minister Goh will be accompanied by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Manpower Lee Yi Shyan, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Monetary Authority of Singapore, International Enterprise Singapore and Infocomm Development Authority.
