MFA Press Statement: Official Visit to Singapore by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland His Excellency Donald Tusk
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, His Excellency Donald Tusk, who is in Singapore on an Official Visit from 3 to 4 November 2012, was officially welcomed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana this afternoon. Following the ceremony, Prime Minister Tusk met with Prime Minister Lee, who hosted an Official Lunch in honour of Prime Minister Tusk. Prime Minister Tusk also paid a courtesy call on President Tony Tan.
During the meetings, the leaders agreed that Singapore and Poland enjoy excellent and broad-based relations, with good cooperation in various areas, including trade, culture, education and research. The leaders also looked forward to the conclusion of the EU-Singapore FTA, which will enhance the economic relations between Singapore and Poland, and exchanged views on developments in Europe and Asia.
After their meeting, Prime Minister Lee and Prime Minister Tusk witnessed the signing of a revised Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement.
Earlier in the morning, Mrs Malgorzata Tusk attended a ceremony at the National Orchid Garden where a new orchid hybrid,Ascocenda Donald Malgorzata,was named in Prime Minister and Mrs Tusk’s honour. Prime Minister Tusk and his delegation will depart Singapore on 4 November 2012.
