MFA Press Statement: Leaders' Retreat between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President of the Republic of Indonesia His Excellency Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Singapore, 22 April 2013

President of the Republic of Indonesia His Excellency Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will visit Singapore from 22 to 23 April 2013 for a Leaders’ Retreat with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The Leaders’ Retreat is a regular platform to discuss ways to strengthen the bilateral relationship.

Prime Minister Lee and President Yudhoyono will meet on 22 April 2013.  They will review the progress made since their last Retreat in Bogor in March 2012 and be updated on the progress of the bilateral working groups established at their Retreat in 2010.  The Leaders will also discuss ways to further deepen bilateral ties.  Prime Minister and Mrs Lee will host President Yudhoyono, First Lady Ibu Ani, and the Indonesian delegation to dinner that evening.  

On 22 April 2013, President Yudhoyono will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).   President Tony Tan Keng Yam, in his capacity as NTU Chancellor, will confer the honorary degree on President Yudhoyono.  President and Mrs Tan will also host President Yudhoyono and Ibu Ani to lunch the same day.

The Indonesian delegation will include Cabinet Ministers and senior officials.  The Singapore delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean, several other Cabinet Ministers and senior officials.
