Dear Premier Li

On behalf of the Government and people of Singapore, I congratulate you on the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

China has made great progress in the last few decades. It is an important player on the international stage, and a key driver of global growth. I am confident that under your leadership, China will continue to progress and contribute to the peace and stability of the region.

Singapore and China share an excellent friendship, underpinned by frequent high-level exchanges, robust economic cooperation and warm people-to-people links. I am glad that we are embarking on new partnerships in financial services, social management and environmental protection. I look forward to continue working with you to enhance our close ties.

Thank you once again for your excellent hospitality during my recent visit to Beijing. I look forward to meeting you again at the East Asia Summit in Brunei next month.
