Changes to Cabinet and Other Appointments (Aug 2016)
The Prime Minister announced changes to his Cabinet and other political appointments on 22 August 2016.
The Prime Minister will make changes to his Cabinet and other political appointments. Annex A gives the details of the appointments and changes. These changes will take effect on 22 August 2016.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam will relinquish his appointment as the Covering Minister for Finance.
Mr Heng Swee Keat will resume his responsibilities as Minister for Finance.
Mr Lawrence Wong will be appointed as the Second Minister for Finance, concurrently with his present appointment as Minister for National Development.
Ms Sim Ann will be appointed Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and relinquish her appointment in the Ministry of Finance. She remains Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.
