Visit by Indonesian President Joko Widodo for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat (2023)
Indonesian President Joko Widodo will visit Singapore for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 16 March 2023.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo will visit Singapore on 16 March 2023 for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This will be Prime Minister Lee’s sixth Leaders’ Retreat with President Joko Widodo. The previous Leaders’ Retreat was held in Bintan, Indonesia, on 25 January 2022.
During the Leaders’ Retreat, Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will review the significant progress in bilateral cooperation since the last Retreat, including the ratification of the three agreements under the Expanded Framework, whose signing was witnessed by Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo at the previous Retreat.
The Leaders will discuss strengthening the bilateral partnership in forward-looking areas across the economic, socio-cultural and security spheres. They will witness the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) signed ahead of the Retreat, including in emerging areas such as energy, sustainability, health, and human capital development, as well as in traditional areas like security. They will exchange views on regional and global developments.
Prime Minister Lee will host lunch for President Joko Widodo and the Indonesian delegation.
President Joko Widodo will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Ministers and Ministerial-ranked officials. The Singapore delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, and other Cabinet Ministers.
