SM Tharman Shanmugaratnam to visit Russia (Sep 2019)

Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam will visit Vladivostok, Russia from 4 to 6 September 2019 to co-chair the High-Level Russia-Singapore Inter-Governmental Commission and speak at the Eastern Economic Forum.

Senior Minister Tharman will co-chair the Tenth Session of the High-Level Russia-Singapore Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC10) with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Maxim Akimov on 6 September 2019. The IGC is an annual high-level dialogue aimed at strengthening broad-based cooperation between Russia and Singapore. This year, the IGC will build on the momentum in economic relations in recent years, and explore opportunities in areas such as innovation, urban transport management and vocational training.

In conjunction with IGC10, Senior Minister Tharman will attend the Fifth Eastern Economic Forum on 5 September 2019. He will speak at a panel session titled “Digital State: New Business Models Brought by Total Digitalisation” together with Deputy Prime Minister Akimov and other prominent government and business leaders. He will also meet with Russian business leaders.

Senior Minister Tharman will be accompanied by Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs Mrs Josephine Teo; Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry Dr Koh Poh Koon; and Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development Mr Sam Tan Chin Siong. He will also be accompanied by a business delegation and officials from various ministries and government agencies.
