Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong will make an Official Visit to Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 27 to 29 August 2023 at the invitation of PM Pham Minh Chinh. PM Lee’s visit reciprocates PM Chinh’s Official Visit to Singapore in February 2023. The exchange of PM visits coincides with the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations and 10th anniversary of Singapore’s Strategic Partnership with Vietnam.
PM Lee will call on PM Chinh, as well as Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue. PM will also be hosted to an Official Dinner by PM Chinh.
During the visit, PM Lee will attend with PM Chinh an event on the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) to witness the virtual ground-breaking ceremony of several VSIPs, as well as the presentation of the investment licenses for new VSIPs. The existing 13 VSIPs that have been awarded investment licenses by Vietnam so far have generated significant economic growth across North, Central and South Vietnam, attracting more than USD 18.4 billion in investments and creating about 300,000 jobs. PM Lee and PM Chinh will also meet students from the Vietnam National University, and engage participants from the inaugural Singapore-Vietnam Youth Leaders Exchange (SVYLE) programme.
PM Lee will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng.
During PM Lee’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will be Acting Prime Minister.
