Appointment of Deputy Attorney-General (Nov 2024)
The President has appointed Justice Goh Yihan as a Deputy Attorney-General for a term of 2 years with effect from 1 January 2025.
The President has appointed Justice Goh Yihan as a Deputy Attorney-General for a term of 2 years with effect from 1 January 2025.
Justice Goh was appointed Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court on 1 July 2022 and Judge of the Supreme Court on 1 October 2023. He resigns the office of Judge with effect from 1 January 2025 to take on the appointment of Deputy Attorney-General.
Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Justice Goh was with the Yong Pung How School of Law, SMU from 2014 to 2022 and served as Dean from 2017 to 2022. He was appointed as Professor of Law in SMU in 2019. He was also with the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Law from 2008 to 2014.
Before his time in academia, Justice Goh served as a Justices’ Law Clerk and subsequently as an Assistant Registrar at the Supreme Court. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 2011 and was appointed as Senior Counsel in January 2021. His areas of focus are finance, securities, banking, complex commercial cases; corporate insolvency; company, trusts and insolvency; intellectual property or information technology; and tort claims.
Apart from his judicial duties, Justice Goh is a board member of the Singapore Judicial College and the Singapore Institute of Legal Education. He is also Co-Chair of the Singapore Academy of Law’s (SAL) Legal Research and Publications Committee and Co-Chair of the SAL Learning and Professional Development Committee.
Justice Goh will join the team of Deputy Attorneys-General which includes Mr Lionel Yee S.C., Mr Tai Wei Shyong S.C., and Mr Ang Cheng Hock S.C.
