Chinese New Year Celebrations 2010
Chinese New Year is one of the most momentous occasions for the Chinese community. Traditionally, the festival begins on the first day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar, and ends on the 15th. Celebrations are usually marked by visits to relatives and friends with time spent on reaffirming close ties.
In multi-racial Singapore, the event is not only celebrated by the Chinese but also Singaporeans of all races. To herald the coming of the Spring Festival, PM Lee Hsien Loong took time off his schedule and joined fellow Singaporeans in various activities and events during this joyous period.
