Visit by President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta - Dec 2022

The President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta, met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 8 December 2022, while on a State Visit to Singapore at the invitation of President Halimah Yacob. This is the first State Visit from Timor-Leste and marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Timor-Leste.

During the visit, PM Lee hosted President Ramos-Horta to an official lunch. The leaders, affirmed the warm and longstanding relations between Singapore and Timor-Leste. Prime Minister Lee also reaffirmed Singapore’s in-principle support for Timor-Leste’s ASEAN membership and Singapore’s commitment to work constructively with other ASEAN Member States on an objective criteria-based Roadmap for Timor-Leste’s ASEAN membership.
