Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Bogor, Indonesia, to attend the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat on 29 April 2024.

 

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Bogor, Indonesia, on 29 April 2024 to attend the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo. This will be Prime Minister Lee’s seventh and final Leaders’ Retreat with President Joko Widodo.

Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will take stock of the significant progress made on bilateral cooperation during their respective tenures. This includes the entry into force in March 2024 of the three agreements under the Expanded Framework, namely the 2022 Agreement on the Realignment of the Boundary between the Jakarta Flight Information Region and the Singapore Flight Information Region, the 2022 Treaty for the Extradition of Fugitives, the 2007 Defence Cooperation Agreement, as well as the ratification in September 2017 of the 2014 Treaty Relating to the Delimitation of the Territorial Seas in the Eastern Part of the Strait of Singapore.

Singapore and Indonesia have also made advances in bilateral cooperation in a wide variety of other areas including defence, trade and investment, and financial cooperation. During the COVID-19 pandemic, both sides also strengthened cooperation in healthcare. At the upcoming Leaders’ Retreat, Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will review the progress made in areas such as defence, the digital economy, and sustainability.

Prime Minister Lee will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Social and Family Development, Second Minister for Health, and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung, and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng.
